What is a Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD)?

A Family Physician, also a Primary Care Physician (PCP) and therefore, prescribes medication and performs minor surgery similar to an Allopathic Medical Doctor, but also is specially trained above and beyond pharmacology to help the body heal in the least invasive way and get to the underlying cause by doing bloodwork and imaging to test biochemistry, etc.

A Naturopathic Medical Doctor is trained to get to the root of the problem and treat the CAUSE rather than to simply palliate the symptoms of illness and disease.
A Naturopathic Medical Doctor specializes in preventative health care with the integration of scientific research and traditional healing techniques. Examination of the body’s biochemistry is used to correct any imbalance to maximize one’s healing capacity.
Evidence based medicine and the most modern therapies based on new research is used to optimize health.  Naturopathic therapies may be used on their own or in conjunction with conventional medical treatments.

NMD has a minimum of seven years of post-secondary education and must complete a four-year full time professional program at an accredited medical school after obtaining a university degree with science requirements (prerequisites). They are required to pass national medical board exams as well as state examinations before receiving a license to practice medicine in Arizona.

Chiropractic and Massage

Chiropractors are experts in musculoskeletal evaluation and treatment. The chiropractic approach to better health is to help normalize spinal structure and function, improve nervous system integrity, and allow your body to heal itself naturally without the need for drugs and painkillers.  Chiropractic adjustments add motion to spinal joints that are stuck and not moving properly, and help restore spinal bones to their proper position.

Massage Therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues to reduce pain and inflammation, increase circulation and lymphatic flow, and promote healing.  Massage therapy treats stress related conditions by increasing a parasympathetic nervous system response.
